As you are aware, the Morgan County School District is undergoing a cybersecurity incident that has impacted our network environment. All network systems have been affected, which includes our student and staff safety systems. The IT team as well as the network security company that was hired are working nonstop to fix the issues. We want to be clear that student and staff safety is our number one priority.
Our mission is to ensure that all students will be successful in their learning and personal development through a system characterized by extensive community and parental involvement, quality resources... While these types of situations have become all-too-common nationwide, we recognize the significance of this event and have quickly taken the appropriate steps to address it. Part of the assessment will include an analysis of whether personal information related to students, faculty and alumni are involved. If we determine that personal information was involved in the incident, we will notify those individuals in accordance with applicable law. Rest assured that we are committed to sharing more information as soon as it becomes available. Nothing is more important to us now than allowing our systems to operate seamlessly again, and please be assured that we are sparing no effort to continue to allow us to provide the highest service to the Morgan County Schools community.

Morgan County Schools remains fully committed to the protection of student and faculty information, systems security, and data privacy. 100% of our faculty is improving their ability to teach mathematics by participating in CMI professional development offered through UVU. We are hopeful that all systems will be restored by Tuesday, but with situations such as this, we will not know until a later time.

But we also want to be clear that there has not been any threat to any school or person in the schools, that includes staff or students. It was out of an abundance of caution that we cancelled school on Friday and with the hiring of off duty police officers for Monday. Morgan County Schools recently discovered a cybersecurity incident impacting its network environment. We are currently working with a team of forensic experts to fully understand the extent and implications of this incident and to restore operations within a safe and remediated network environment. We apologize for the operational disruption that this event may have caused, or continue to cause, until a safe restoration of services has been completed.
